Hi!
Last weekend I did a striping tape design! (I felt like I should do something a little more complex after my messy lil' Mr. Candiipants floral)
I was originally just trying to get my untrieds off the shelf, and I was thinking it wasn't going to be a blog-worthy mani. BUT striping tape ended up being my friend, and JINsoon Mica ended up being gorgeous, so here ya go!
Polishes used: Bases, index to pinky | JINsoon Mica, Revlon Spirit, Julie G Silver Bells, JINson Mica For the triangles | JINsoon Jasper and Azurite |
Let me just say striping tape and I have had a rocky past. Even when my nails are completely dry, it finds a way to nick the polish... or it doesn't adhere to the nail properly and polish gets under it, ruining the design... or I lose the end of the roll of tape and mess up my nails trying to find it again...
But this time I'm happy with my result!
(the smudging was the top coat's fault, not the striping tape's -- for once!)
I was originally intending to do two nails with triangles, but then I realized I hadn't shown you guys the Julie G polish I picked up over the holidays! Or maybe I was just lazy and didn't want to fiddle with the striping tape on another nail :3
Okay, now I get to talk about JINsoon Mica!
JINsoon Mica, two coats with NYC top coat |
I just wish every polish could be like Mica. It's opaque in one coat (shown is two, because I missed part of my nail with the first one whoops) and it has little shimmery bits that are gorgeous and refined-looking in the shade and gorgeous and holo-esque in the sun!
I also looove the square bottles :3 |
Slightly off-topic, but funny story: I got the whole Tibi collection as a gift (my relatives sure know what I like, haha!) and a little while after I got it I saw All Lacqured Up's swatches of the collection and I was like "I NEED THAT" and then a couple of days later I realized I already had it... and then I forgot and let them languish on my untrieds shelf for another month. I'm such a spoiled child.
I think I need to do nail art featuring the whole Tibi collection, they're just so impossibly gorgeous! And wow, this post has gotten really long, so I guess I'll stop rambling.
Oh, wait, one more thing. I hit 100 likes on the Nail Snail's Facebook page!
You guys are the best :D
Thanks for reading & be sure to let me know what you think!
Lucy xx
Mica MUST be mine, it looks lovely. Great job with the tape, sorry about the top coat. I hate when that happens.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It is a gorgeous polish! Just a bit on the expensive side. Cutepolish just came out with a video on "how not to smudge your nail art" -- it's like she was reading my mind! :D
DeleteLove this mani :) Mica is an amazing colour!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It really is, I keep staring at my nails... :)
DeleteThese are such gorgeous colours you used! Jinsoon Mica looks very pretty :) And great manucire! I totally understand your feelings towards striping tape, I haven't really managed to properly work with it myself, it's such a pain! But it worked out really well here in this design :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! Yeah, JINsoon did a great job coordinating this collection :D
DeleteThat's perfect! And great color combo:)
ReplyDeleteWhat cute mani :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty mani! You are holding my new favorite top coat! I am trying to use up all my Seche Vite because I plan on using this full time. I love that it absolutely does not smudge my stamping! Which we know can be a problem!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Hmm, it still smudged my tape design, but I've heard it works great with stamping -- I'll have to try it! It is a lot cheaper than Seche too :)
Deletelove this lucy - so pretty. I've never tried a JINsoon before.....
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I love JINsoon, their polishes are always great quality. The only catch is they're on the expensive side... :P
DeleteSo cute! I love your colour combos. The triangles look so good :) And Mica is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love those days when the nail gods are smiling upon you. Cause I hear you about striping tape. I don't know what it is. But some days it just does not want to play.
And dude, you're almost at 1,900 on facebook now! Holy moly!! :D
Thanks so much! Yes, it's kind of a hit-and-miss thing :P
DeleteYep, I was so surprised when I logged in and I had hit over 1,500 likes!!
Suucchhh a cute mani! :) Those triangles look awesome.
ReplyDeleteAwww, what a pretty manicure!
ReplyDeleteI love it, especially the color choice!
Keep on making these amazing nail arts for us
Xx julia
Thanks so much Julia!!
DeleteMica looks super pretty! And I totally get your troubles with striping tape, I haven't managed to get a perfect striping tape manicure myself, ugh! But this design looks really good! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah okay, I left a comment twice on your post here, sorry! I thought something had gone wrong with my first one so I left another, apparently I was just a bit too impatient! :)
DeleteI wish I could've gotten a sunlight shot too, but it's been so dreary around here... it's even prettier in the sun! Yep, striping tape just doesn't play nice most of the time :P Thanks!!
DeleteAnd haha, I didn't even realize you commented twice! I've been really slow at moderating comments lately, sorry :P
DeleteOoooh, this is dreamy! I adore the color combo and the geometric design! I need to try this now!
