Hi!
Recently I've been seeing a lot of grunge nail art out there (see Hey, Darling Polish's version and Chalkboard Nails' version). I think it looks really interesting! My version... well... you can see for yourself.
Grungy? Yes. But as I was aiming for something more like Chalkboard Nails' version (see link above), it looked a little too grungy.
To get the streaky look, I just wiped most of the polish off the brush, then swiped it down my nail. It made it look quite grungy, but it was hard to control how much polish got on your nail, which led to me putting on way too much black polish.
This last photo shows it especially well -- I put WAY too much black on.
I guess it still looks interesting, but it's definitely not what I was aiming for... have you tried grunge nails? Have you had any bad nail fails lately? Let me know what you think in the comments!
Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
Lucy xx
P.S. I was looking at my blog from a different computer today and it looked completely different... instead of light purple the accents were a bright fuchsia color! It displays fine on all my Mac stuff and on my HP laptop, but on certain computers it just looks.. weird. In my photos, my hands look super red! Does the blog look weird to you guys? And does anyone know how can I make it display consistently?
Ow, I think this looks great! Maybe not what you were aiming for, but definitely not a nail fail, honestly! All these grunge nail pictures really make me want to try it out for myself :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! It does look interesting I guess :)
DeleteI think it looks grungy and interesting! I haven't tried the technique yet (but I'm going to soon lol).
ReplyDeleteAbout the colors on other computers... you can never control that. As long as the pics look as you want them to on your own display that should be ok :)
Thanks! Yeah, I guess I'll just have to live with it :P
DeleteI really like how yours looks! I think it is very interesting! I can't help you with your page unfortunately. My blog is very basic as I have not figured how to make it more "interesting".
ReplyDeleteThanks! Haha, sometimes simple is better :)
DeleteI think this look awesome! I have yet to try doing grunge nails this way but I'm going to have to soon! I love the blue that you used under the black too, it's so bright (:
ReplyDeleteThanks -- I loved your version too :D Yeah, the blue had been in my untried pile for a long time before I realized how awesome it was!
DeleteI love this!! I actually like it better than the original. :D Now I definitely need to try grunge nails!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I like how every nail has it's own look, really great job :)
ReplyDeleteLovin' the grunge look!
ReplyDeleteWow, fantastic design! Good job!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteGrungy fail? No way! I love it! And I don't think anyone could go wrong with Grungy nails XD so you did a great job!
ReplyDeleteBtw, MNPO is right, displays always varies from PC to PC it all depends on individual computer display settings. So yeah as long as what you see on your pc is close to what you see in person, its fine. The rest is out of our control :)
Thanks! Haha, true, grunge nails are pretty open to interpretation I guess...
DeleteYeah, I guess I just have to learn to let it go :P I WISH I could control it though!!
